Balham is a residential neighborhood in south London, about five miles from the center of the capital. The area has a London Underground, or tube, station, which whisks travelers into various central London destinations in about 30 minutes, including Charing Cross Station, a few steps from Trafalgar Square. The Victorian terraces of Balham have become fashionable --- and a lot more expensive --- in the last decade or two, and this is reflected in the wide selection of local eateries offering cuisines from around the world.
